What Makes a Password Actually Strong?

Length matters more than complexity. A 20-character password made of only lowercase letters is stronger than a 10-character password with uppercase, numbers and symbols. Each additional character multiplies the number of possible combinations exponentially.

That said, combining length with character variety is ideal. A 16-character password using all character types creates combinations that would take longer than the age of the universe to brute-force.

Why Random Beats Memorable

Humans are predictable. When asked to create a "random" password, we unconsciously follow patterns — starting with uppercase, ending with numbers, using recognizable words with letter substitutions like p@ssw0rd. Attackers know this and build cracking tools that try common patterns first.
